The sudden change in weather in Delhi-NCR has given relief to the people from the heat. Due to heavy rain, thunder and winds last night, a significant drop in temperature was recorded. The weather is pleasant in the morning and evening and coolness is being felt. The Meteorological Department has indicated that similar weather may continue today and rain is likely to continue in many areas.

Yellow alert issued for today

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alert for today. According to the department, there may be light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the day and night. Apart from this, strong winds are expected to blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Talking about the temperature, the minimum temperature can be around 16 to 17 degrees Celsius, due to which the weather will remain cool and people will get relief.

According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of rain in many areas of NCR along with Delhi. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar and Ballabhgarh. There is a possibility of cloudy sky and rain in many parts of the capital including Dwarka, Najafgarh, Delhi Cantt, India Gate, Akshardham, Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, Vasant Vihar, RK Puram, Lajpat Nagar and Hauz Khas. In areas like Noida, Dadri and Greater Noida, there may be heavy rain at some places along with strong winds.

Expect improvement from tomorrow

Talking about tomorrow’s weather, the situation is expected to improve gradually. It may remain cloudy in the morning, but the sky may become partially clear as the day progresses. There will be less chance of rain and a slight increase in temperature will be seen. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 27 to 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 17 degrees.

This change in the weather has come due to an active western disturbance, the effect of which is being seen throughout North India. Due to this, sudden rain, strong winds and drop in temperature have been recorded.

It is noteworthy that the recent rains have broken the record of the last three years. Safdarjung, the main center of the capital, recorded 6.4 mm of rain within 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 14.3 mm was recorded in Ayanagar. This unusual rain has cooled the weather in the beginning of April.
