The Mumbai Indians were just coming back from a loss, while Riyan Parag has just started to prove the captaincy doubts around him baseless. Meanwhile, it was Vaibhav Sooryavangshi, who was the center of attention, with speculations buzzing on how he will face India's top bowler, Jasprit Bumrah.
And Sooryavanshi answered. The first ball went for a six against Bumrah. He took a single on the next ball before returning it against Bumrah for the fourth ball; that too went for a six.
The former Indian bowler turned critic Anil Kumble found out a strategy that Vaibhav played against Bumrah. Speaking to Star Sports, Kumble said that the six in the first ball made Bumrah bowl slower, which Viabhav actually wanted. Kumble said,
"Sooryavanshi makes it look easy against one of the world’s best bowlers. First ball, he hits him for a six and then sets him up. He set the bowler up, not the other way around. We’ve generally seen Bumrah set up batters so many times, but here, Sooryavanshi set Bumrah up to bowl."
Vaibhav batted for 14 balls, scoring 39 runs with a strike rate over 278. He smashed 5 sixes and a boundary that contributed to his score. Kumble pointed out how the teen bats around a 300 strike rate in each match and is scoring over 30 consistently. Kumble added,
"It was brilliant batting by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, just the way he strikes the ball and the consistency he has shown in terms of strike rate. He is striking at close to 300 in every game and scoring more than 30 runs consistently, which is outstanding."

All-round brilliance won RR the match by 23 runs
Rajasthan Royals delivered a near-flawless performance in the rain-trimmed 11-over clash, defeating Mumbai Indians by 27 runs after piling up 150/3 at 13.63 runs per over. The backbone of the innings was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 77 off just 32 balls, featuring 10 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 240.62, his fifty coming in only 23 balls. RR raced to 59 without loss in the 3.2-over powerplay and reached 100 in just 7.3 overs.
In reply, MI collapsed early to 22/3 in 2.3 overs and further slipped to 46/5 by 4.6 overs, never recovering in the steep chase of 151. Despite 25 each from Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford, MI ended at 123/9, losing wickets at regular intervals. RR’s bowling attack shared the load beautifully, with Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma, and Ravi Bishnoi claiming two wickets each, while 7 of MI’s 9 wickets fell to catches, underlining RR’s superb fielding effort in Guwahati.
