Delhi Capitals faced Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, and the encounter was a thrill with a funny moment during the Gujarat Titans batting from Glenn Phillips. There were a few highlights in the match however this one incident during GT innings showed presence of mind in critical situation by the Kiwi star.
During the 19th over of Gujarat Titans' innings, a low full toss by T Natarajan presented Phillips in a confusing situation. At first, he thought he had directly hit the ball straight into the fielders' hands, therefore dropped his bat in a belief that he is out. However, the ball bounced in front of the Trisan Stubbs. Therefore, Phillips had no choice to run for the single without picking up his bat.
Quick thinking by Phillips saved the day for Gujarat Titans and no wicket was lost in that delivery. The sprint to the crease showed the significance of alert play even when it looks like an easy run to the fielder. The crowd erupted as Phillips safely got in the crease and Gujarat Titans remained in a steady position.

Solid batting display by GT
Gujarat Titans ended their inning at 210-4 in 20 overs. Skipper Shubman Gill scored 70 runs from 45 deliveries with Jos Buttler providing a good knock of 52 runs from 27 deliveries and a quick 55 from Washington Sundar with 32 deliveries. Phillips remained not out at 14 runs from 6 balls which provided a steady finishing at the end.
Mukesh Kumar managed two wickets for Delhi Capitals with Lungi Ngidi and Kuldeep Yadav picking a wicket each. Even after having early breakthroughs by the bowling of DC the lower and middle order of GT batted brilliantly. The partnership between Washington Sundar and Glenn Phillips was short, but exceptional and a total of 210 was an apt finish by them.
The onus is now on the quality bowling lineup of Gujarat Titans to restrict the home side from chasing the target.
