brent crude
On Wednesday, Brent crude fell sharply to $95.068 per barrel (earlier it was $109.77) after US President Donald Trump announced a halt in attacks on Iran for two weeks. After this announcement, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also fell by almost $20 per barrel.

Strait of Hormuz
This pause is tied to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz; It is a narrow waterway through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas passes every day.

Markets reacted within minutes — oil prices fell, bond prices rose and U.S. stocks surged. Investors are seeing the ceasefire as a sign that oil supplies may resume normality after weeks of disruption.
