The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the first round of tentative allocation (FRTA) for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination, 2025. This follows the examination process that began with the Tier-I result on December 18, 2025, and the Tier-II examination held on January 18 and 19, 2026.
Who is Eligible?
Candidates who qualified in Tier-II and submitted their online preferences were considered for this allocation. The SSC stated that only those who cleared Section-I and Section-II of Paper-I in Tier-II were evaluated for Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test, CKT) and Section-IV (Data Entry Speed Test, DEST). Candidates who did not meet the cut-offs for Section-I and Section-II were not eligible for evaluation in Sections III and IV.
Cut-off Marks
The minimum qualifying marks for Section-I, Section-II, and Section-III (CKT) of Paper-I and Paper-II were set at 30% for UR candidates, 25% for OBC/EWS candidates, and 20% for all other categories. For the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST), the maximum allowed error percentage was 20% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 30% for all other categories.
Allocation Basis
The FRTA allocations were based on the overall Tier-II performance. For Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Gr. II (SI) posts, performance in Tier-II Paper-I (Sections I + II) and Paper-II was considered. For all other posts, the evaluation was based on Tier-II Paper-I (Sections I + II).
Results Withheld and Subject to Court Orders
The results of 107 candidates have been withheld for various reasons. The allocations are also subject to the final outcome of court cases, specifically SLP (C) No. 7246/2026 and WP (C) No. 1733/2026.
Sliding Mechanism for Vacancy Utilization
A sliding mechanism has been introduced to maximize vacancy utilization and offer merit-based reallocation. Candidates can select their venue, date, and slot for this process on the SSC website between April 8 and April 10, 2026. The sliding process will take place at regional offices from April 13-22, 2026, for the Northern Region and from April 13-18, 2026, for all other regions. Candidates must attend in person to be considered for final allocation.
Next Steps
Final answer keys have been released after reviewing candidate representations. Detailed marks for both selected and non-selected candidates will be uploaded on the SSC website soon.
