Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured swift and transparent support for farmers and sharecroppers affected by recent damage to rabi crops due to unseasonal rains, hailstorms, and fires in some regions.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on Wednesday, the Chief Minister emphasized, "It is natural for farmers to feel worried in such adverse circumstances, and the state government stands firmly with them with full commitment."
Officials were directed to conduct accurate, fair, and time-bound assessments of losses for every affected farmer and sharecropper, ensuring immediate compensation. Effective coordination at the district level among revenue, agriculture, and other concerned departments has been mandated to complete surveys quickly and submit reports without delay, preventing any hold-up in relief distribution.
CM Yogi also instructed officials to maintain active liaison with insurance companies for prompt settlement of crop insurance claims. Farmers are to be directly assisted to ensure maximum benefit from existing insurance schemes.
The Revenue Department was specifically tasked with making adequate funds immediately available to each district from the State Disaster Relief Fund. District Magistrates must ensure assistance is delivered promptly and transparently, with relief camps set up where necessary. Mandi committees have also been asked to provide full support to affected farmers.
In cases involving loss of life or livestock due to fire, the Chief Minister directed that relief funds be provided within 24 hours. Eligible beneficiaries are to be covered under the Krishak Durghatna Bima Yojana, and families whose homes have been damaged should receive housing priority under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.
CM Yogi warned that any negligence in relief or rehabilitation work will not be tolerated, and accountability will be fixed. He reiterated, "In this time of disaster, the state government stands firmly with every farmer, farming family, and sharecropper with full sensitivity, promptness, and commitment. Providing all possible assistance is the government’s highest priority."
