Noida, 8 April. Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Mohsina Kidwai passed away on Wednesday. 94-year-old Kidwai, who was ill for a long time, breathed her last in the hospital at 4 am. Many politicians have expressed grief over the demise of the Congress veteran who was a three-time MP from Meerut.

Kidwai, a three-time MP from Meerut, is married to Khalil R. It was from Kidwai. His bereaved family consists of three daughters. Mohsina Kidwai’s last rites will begin in the afternoon from her residence in Sector 40, Noida. He will be cremated at Nizamuddin cemetery in Delhi at 5 pm.

Elected MP from Meerut thrice, was also a Rajya Sabha member from 2004 to 2016.

Born on January 1, 1932 in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, Mohsina Kidwai entered public life at an early age. He started his career in state politics and later made his mark at the national level. She was elected MP from Meerut in 1978 by-election, 1980 and 1984. After this, she was a member of Rajya Sabha from Chhattisgarh from 2004 to 2010 and from 2010 to 2016. During that time he made significant contributions to legislative debates and policy-making at the national level.

Mohsina, who was close to the Gandhi family, handled many ministries as a Union Minister.

Mohsina Kidwai, who was close to the Gandhi family, during her tenure as Union Minister in the governments led by Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, held the responsibilities of ministries like health, urban development, tourism and civil aviation. Apart from being a minister in the central government, she was also the chairperson of the Haj Committee. He also served as Congress General Secretary. She was also a member of the Congress Working Committee and the Central Election Committee of the Congress Party. She remained active in public life for a long time.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Manish Tiwari has expressed grief over the demise of Mohsina Kidwai. He said that Mohsina Kidwai was of very gentle nature. Simplicity and humility were visible in his personality. His demise has caused irreparable loss to the Congress party. He has served the country many times as a Union Minister and MP. His contribution will be remembered for a long time.
