New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India Limited have announced that it will raise the prices of cars up to 1 per cent across its lineup from May 2026. The exact bifurcation of the increase will differ across models and trims. Hyundai has a strong position in the Indian passenger vehicle market, consistently being among the top three makers in terms of volume.
The brand’s lineup extends from entry-level hatchbacks, mid-segment saloons and a wide range of SUVs, with models like the Creta and Venue being amongst the top-selling cars in the country. The brand has also been expanding its electric vehicle offerings, being in perfect tune with industry trends for electrification and connected mobility.
While Hyundai in the previous financial year lost its second spot in sales numbers and stands behind Tata Motors and Mahindra, it is still a very popular and growing brand. For more details about the price increase, it is advisable to visit your nearest showroom or keep an eye on the official website of Hyundai.
Industry analysts have said that the broader automotive sector has been coming to terms with volatility in terms of raw material prices, including steel and aluminium, as well as higher logistics costs and fluctuations of the currency. The pressures have made it more difficult for OEMs to shield customers from global cost rises.
Price hikes have hence become a recurring theme across the passenger vehicle segment, with quite a few automakers announcing revisions over the past month. Price hikes were first announced by the German brand trio of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, followed by JSW MG and Mahindra.
Maruti Suzuki had already warned that the ongoing Middle East conflict might push it to increase prices, wiping out gains from last year’s consumption tax cuts. Even though the brand hasn’t faced any issues with the supply, it acknowledged the potential for one in the coming times.
Industry analysts have also said that the slight increase in price won’t affect demand. This is particularly more true as replacement cycles, new launches and strong SUV momentum are constantly growing in the domestic market.
