Academy locks 2027, 2028 Oscars dates centennial ceremony slated for early March

In addition to announcing the ceremony dates, the Academy unveiled key milestones for the 2026–2027 awards season. The eligibility window will open on January 1, 2026, and close on December 31, 2026. Submissions across general entry categories, including Best Picture and Animated Feature, must be completed by November 12, 2026, just days ahead of the Governors Awards on November 15.
The awards race will gather pace in December, with preliminary voting running from December 7 to December 11, followed by the announcement of shortlists on December 15. Nominations voting is slated for January 11 to January 15, 2027, with the nominations themselves to be revealed on January 21.
