New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings have had a disappointing start in IPL 2026. The team is facing consecutive defeats in the first three matches and the biggest reason behind this is believed to be the decline in the form of fast spinner Noor Ahmed. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan revealed on his YouTube channel that this is the biggest problem for CSK at the moment. Pathan told that Noor Ahmed has bowled 10 overs so far this season, in which he has conceded more than 100 runs and has not taken a single wicket.
Especially in the match against RCB, Noor gave 49 runs, in which Rajat Patidar and Tim David targeted him heavily. According to Pathan, if Noor improves the angle of his run-up and gets his hands on the ball correct, his performance can be better. Noor Ahmed’s decline in performance is directly affecting CSK’s bowling unit and that is why the team is continuously losing the opening matches.
Henry’s bowling also disappointing
Apart from Noor Ahmed, Pathan also expressed dissatisfaction with the bowling of Matt Henry. Despite being experienced, Henry did not perform impressively in the first matches. Against RCB, he gave 36 runs in 3 overs and did not take any wicket. Pathan says that Henry did not make the expected impact in this league, whereas the experienced bowler should have taken wickets as per his strategy. Giving an example, he said that experienced bowlers never bowl half volleys and should have bowled as per the plan for the team.
Bowler failed to stop Tim David
Irfan Pathan also questioned CSK’s strategy. He said that the team’s bowlers did not make a proper plan to stop Tim David. Pathan told that David often stands outside the leg stump and if the bowler bowls only on the off stump, then he gets full facility to score runs. CSK should have blocked him in the initial overs, but it did not happen. According to Pathan, Tim David could be kept under control only by bowling on middle stump and leg stump.
CSK’s bowling needs improvement
The lack of performance of Noor Ahmed and Henry has become the biggest concern for CSK. Pathan suggested that Noor will have to improve his run-up and ball angle and Henry will also have to make an impact in the match with his strategy. Along with this, the team has to plan keeping in mind the strength of the batsmen so that no player can score runs independently.
In Pathan’s opinion, if this improvement in bowling does not happen then CSK’s journey in IPL 2026 will be challenging. The entire bowling of the team depends on the form of Noor Ahmed and it will be interesting to see how the team management resolves this crisis.
The biggest problem for CSK in IPL 2026 is the poor bowling of Noor Ahmed. Also, Matt Henry’s disappointing performance and strategic mistake in stopping Tim David is hurting the team. If Noor and Henry improve their strategy and CSK brings balance to the bowling, then only the team’s chances of victory can increase.
