Lucknow. An important proposal to the Higher Education Department was approved in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In this sequence, approval has been given for the establishment of ‘Metro University’ under the private sector in Greater Noida, which is considered an important step towards the expansion of higher education in the state.

Giving information, State Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay (State Minister for Higher Education) said that this decision has been taken under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019. He said that under the said Act, proper arrangements for the establishment, regulation and operation of private universities have been ensured.
He told that the sponsoring organization Sunhill Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Noida, a proposal was submitted to establish ‘Metro University’ on 26.1 acres of land allotted from Greater Noida Authority, which has been approved after examination as per legal provisions. For this, it has been decided to amend the schedule of Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019 and promulgate ‘Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026’ and issue operating authorization letter to the sponsoring institution.
The Higher Education Minister said that with the establishment of this university, new opportunities for quality higher education will be created in the state and modern and employment-oriented education can be provided to the youth. This initiative will play an important role in making the state a leader in the field of education.
He said that the Yogi government is committed to expanding higher education, improving quality and encouraging private investment. With the establishment of new universities, along with education, employment and skill development opportunities will also increase in the state.
