Synopsis

Delhi Airport responded to social media concerns over stray dogs, confirming they are cared for under veterinary guidelines. It addressed a recent dog bite incident and urged public caution. Officials also acknowledged reports of a missing dog, ‘Dholu’, allegedly relocated, as online reactions remain divided over safety and animal welfare.

The airport also addressed concerns about a brown dog that had reportedly bitten two individuals.
Delhi Airport on Tuesday issued a statement addressing concerns over stray dogs on its premises, following several posts on social media.

Acknowledging their presence, the airport said that community dogs are found across all three terminals and are regularly cared for by its team. In a post on X, it stated that the animals are fed and monitored as per veterinary guidelines to ensure their health and stable behaviour.

The airport also addressed concerns about a brown dog that had reportedly bitten two individuals. It said the animal was “carefully handled, calmed, and gently returned to its familiar area,” adding that its approach remains focused on care, safety, and responsible management.

Passengers and visitors were urged to avoid feeding stray dogs in public areas or engaging in actions that may unintentionally provoke them.

“Rising incidents of dog bites are a matter of genuine concern, and ensuring safety—for both people and animals—requires collective responsibility,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, officials also took note of social media posts about another dog at Terminal 3 that has reportedly been missing since March 26. “We sincerely hope it is safe and around,” the airport said.

According to reports, the missing dog—named ‘Dholu’—was allegedly tied with a rope, dragged, and illegally relocated from Terminal 1. The incident is said to have taken place on April 2, with videos of the alleged act circulating online.

The issue has triggered mixed reactions on social media. While some users called for stricter enforcement of rules and relocation of stray dogs, others stressed the need to respect their habitat and avoid making unfounded allegations.

One user questioned the presence of stray dogs in high-security zones, comparing it to sensitive locations like Parliament.

Another said, "Everyone just wants to know if Kaddu is safe, share her details and location if it's true. Then those in the local animal welfare community can check on her."
