Mumbai Cricket Association Honors Legends with New Stadium Features

On April 9, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will honor four legendary figures in cricket by unveiling the Ravi Shastri Stand and dedicating stadium gates to Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar, and Diana Edulji at Wankhede Stadium. The ceremony will be attended by Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, along with MCA President Ajinkya Naik, Apex Council members, and other notable figures from the cricket community. This initiative was approved during an MCA Apex Council meeting in February.


The Level 1 Stand beneath the Press Box will be named after Ravi Shastri, a former captain and celebrated commentator, acknowledging his significant contributions to cricket in Mumbai and India as a player, leader, and coach. Additionally, Gate No. 3 will be named the Dilip Sardesai Gate, Gate No. 5 will become the Diana Edulji Gate, and Gate No. 6 will be dedicated to Eknath Solkar, honoring their lasting influence on Indian cricket.

Ajinkya Naik, the MCA President, expressed, "This event is a proud moment for Mumbai cricket as we gather on April 9 to celebrate these iconic personalities. The unveiling of the Ravi Shastri Stand and the dedication of gates to Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar, and Diana Edulji showcases our profound respect for their invaluable contributions. We aim to honor their legacy at Wankhede Stadium and inspire future generations to embrace similar values and pursue excellence."
