Netflix has dropped the first trailer for One Piece Season 3, titled The Battle of Alabasta, teasing a high-stakes storyline packed with conflict, politics and emotional choices for the Straw Hat crew.
The upcoming season shifts the story to the desert kingdom of Alabasta, where Monkey D. Luffy and his crew find themselves caught in the middle of a growing national crisis. Princess Vivi’s homeland is on the brink of collapse as a rebellion spreads across the kingdom. Behind the chaos is Sir Crocodile, one of the powerful Warlords of the Sea, who is secretly orchestrating events through his criminal network, Baroque Works, with the aim of taking control of Alabasta. As tensions escalate, the Straw Hats must step into a dangerous conflict to protect Vivi and prevent the kingdom from falling apart.
Season 3 will adapt the iconic Alabasta arc from the manga created by Eiichiro Oda. Picking up from the end of Season 2, where the crew agrees to help Vivi, the new season places them in a politically charged environment filled with shifting loyalties and looming war.
Production for the series began in November 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa, while Netflix had already greenlit the third season months earlier, signalling strong confidence in the live-action adaptation.
The new season will introduce several fan-favourite characters, including Bon Clay (played by Cole Escola), Portgas D. Ace (Xolo Maridueña), Mr. 1 (Awdo Awdo), and Miss Doublefinger (Daisy Head). Returning cast members include Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday, Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, Joe Manganiello as Mr. 0, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra.
The story is expected to cover around 63 chapters of the manga across eight episodes, making it one of the most extensive arcs adapted so far and a major turning point in the Straw Hats’ journey.
Behind the scenes, Ian Stokes joins Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, writer and executive producer for Season 3. Eiichiro Oda also remains closely involved as an executive producer alongside Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe and Steven Maeda.
According to Netflix, One Piece Season 3 will premiere in 2027.
