Washington: Hours after President Donald Trump threatened to blow up the entire Iranian civilization amid the Middle East conflict, Tehran on Tuesday hit back by saying that the US and its allies would suffer an unforgettable hit from the ancient civilization.

The war of words between the two countries has continued ever since the US and Israel conducted a joint operation on Iran on February 28. The conflict further increased after Iran reciprocated with the launch of missiles on the military bases of the US, Israel, and other countries of the Middle East.

A whole civilization will die tonight: Trump

Responding to Trump’s Threat, Iran said, “Trump told: ‘A whole civilization will die tonight. You and your allies will suffer an unforgettable hit from the ancient civilization of Iran.” Earlier, issuing a warning, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”

“However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” Trump added further.

The threat comes ahead of the deadline

The US President’s threat came nearly 12 hours ahead of his deadline, asking Iran to agree to an agreement that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran, however, rejected the 45-day ceasefire proposal. In its response, Iran said it wants a permanent end to the war and that all sanctions on it must be lifted.

Earlier on Monday, Trump said he is “not at all” concerned about committing possible war crimes as he threatened to destroy Iranian infrastructure in case Tehran did not meet his deadline to reopen the waterway.
