Recipe 1-Classic Black Gram-Cucumber Chaat
Material
Boiled black gram – 1 cup
Cucumber (chopped) – 1 cup
Tomato (chopped) – ½ cup
Onion (finely chopped) – ½ cup
Green chilli – 1
Lemon juice – 1-2 teaspoons
Black salt – as per taste
Roasted cumin powder – ½ tsp
Chaat masala – ½ teaspoon
Coriander – to garnish
Method of preparation
Put boiled black gram in a bowl. Add cucumber, tomato, onion and green chilli in it. Now add salt, black salt, chaat masala and cumin powder. Add lemon juice on top and mix well. Garnish with green coriander and serve immediately. This chaat is light, sour-spicy and looks very fresh.
Recipe 2 – Curd Black Gram-Cucumber Chaat (Cooling Twist)
Material
Boiled black gram – 1 cup
Cucumber (grated or chopped) – 1 cup
Curd – ½ cup (cold)
Roasted cumin powder – ½ tsp
Black salt – as per taste
Common salt – as per taste
Mint Chutney – 1 teaspoon
Tamarind chutney – 1 teaspoon
Red chilli powder – a pinch
Method of preparation
Mix black gram and cucumber in a bowl. Add cold curd to it and mix well. Now add salt, black salt and cumin powder. Pour mint and tamarind chutney on top. Sprinkle a little red chili powder and serve. This version cools the body and is especially beneficial in summer.

- Soak the chickpeas overnight and boil them well so that they become soft and tasty.
