No structural changes can be made

There are many parts of vehicles which are not allowed to be modified by law. This includes changes to the basic design of the vehicle, such as the engine, bigger wheels, wider tires and bigger horn. Violation of any of these rules can lead to hefty fines ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000 for design changes. But there are certain modifications you can make to your vehicle, which require permission from the RTO as per norms.

Big penalty for wide tires

You have often seen people fitting wide tires to their vehicles to give them an attractive look. Therefore, it is important to think carefully before making such a mistake. If caught, you can face a hefty fine of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 and a jail term of up to six months. This is because it is considered a major safety hazard and the registration certificate (RC) of the vehicle may be suspended.

You can make these changes in vehicle tires

If you want to change the tires of your vehicle, you can install alloy wheels. This not only gives the vehicle a sporty and attractive look, but also improves the driving performance. But, it is important to note that if the size of the alloy wheel is different from the company’s specifications, you may be fined. However, if you fit alloy wheels of the size prescribed by the company, they will be legal and you will not be fined. You may be exempt from prosecution.
