Mango powder is used in many dishes and is a part of Indian kitchen. In today's era of adulteration, there is no guarantee that anything in the market is pure. This is the reason why people now like growing vegetables and fruits and most of the things are homemade. If mango is in season, things are also prepared from it. You can also make dry mango powder which will not only be pure, but also without any preservatives, you can store it for many years. Along with this, it is also much cheaper than the market.
Dry mango powder definitely gives a tangy flavor to the taste of your food. It is rich in many antioxidants including Vitamin C. People often use citric acid, starch and artificial colors etc. in mango powder available in the market, hence, prepare it during mango season and store it and use it throughout the year.
Only one ingredient is required i.e. mango
To make mango powder, you will need only one ingredient and that is big sized raw mangoes. Take as many mangoes as you want to make powder and then wash all the mangoes thoroughly and wipe them with a cloth.
Make dry mango powder like this
- To make mango powder, peel all the mangoes one by one and then cut them into thin slices.
- You can also use a slicer to cut chips to cut the mango. With this, the work gets done quickly and all the mangoes are cut at exactly equal thickness. This also makes drying easier.
- Spread all the mangoes in a big plate or dish and then dry it in the strong sunlight. Keep in mind that whenever mangoes are left to dry, it is important to protect them from direct sunlight, so that their color does not turn black.
- The best way is to cover the vessel in which you are drying mangoes with a light muslin or cotton cloth. Mangoes dry completely in the sunlight in 3 to 4 days and become crunchy when plucked.
- When the mangoes are dry, put them in a grinder and make powder. Strain through a fine sieve. Grind the remaining mango again. In this way dry mango powder will be ready.

How to store dry mango powder
Store this mango powder in a glass jar and keep it at a place where there is no possibility of moisture getting into it. For this it is better to use an airtight container. Take out as much dry mango powder as you need in a separate container or spice container and store the rest. In fact, opening the jar repeatedly can cause moisture to get into dry mango powder.
