Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance and Recent Developments

Nancy Guthrie has been missing for over two months, having last been seen on February 1, as reported by her family. Her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, has resumed her role as a host on NBC's Today show while the search for the 84-year-old continues. In the midst of this investigation, reports have emerged of a new ransom note being received, which includes additional claims regarding the case. This note allegedly originates from the same person who previously offered to reveal the identities of those involved in the supposed kidnapping.

The sender of the note has demanded one bitcoin in exchange for information that would supposedly lead to the kidnappers, stating they have seen Guthrie alive in Sonora, Mexico, near the Arizona border. However, the message also contradicts itself by claiming that "she is dead" and that the sender has been outside the U.S. for over five years, denying any involvement in the alleged crime.

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer has criticized the timing of this message, pointing out that it was sent on the same day Savannah returned to her television duties. In a social media post, she expressed her disdain, stating: "The person claims they have her body and want only half a Bitcoin for information on where Nancy is buried. $34,842.12 USD. What a pathetic individual torturing Savannah after her return to the @TODAYshow." She emphasized that the timing of the note's delivery highlights the sender's disturbing nature, regardless of their knowledge about Nancy's whereabouts.

Authorities, including the FBI, which is collaborating with the Pima County Sheriff's Department, have not deemed the messages credible. No payments have been made to the bitcoin account mentioned in the ransom note.
