Delhi: During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, rain interrupted the match being played between hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Monday. Play was possible only for 22 balls, after which the weather stopped the game completely, after which the spectators returned from the stadium completely disappointed.
Expectations of ticket refund disappointing
There is no news of relief for the fans. According to the rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), if even a single ball is played in the match, the ticket money is not refunded to any spectator. In the Kolkata-Punjab match, 3.4 overs i.e. 22 balls were played. For this reason, the spectators present in the stadium will not get any money for their tickets.
BCCI rules clear
BCCI announces the playing conditions and ticket rules every year before the start of the IPL season. It has been made clear in these rules that refund will be given only for those matches in which not a single ball is played. Apart from this, only the ticket price is returned in the refund, it does not include GST or other taxes.
Match canceled after waiting for three hours
After the game was stopped due to rain, there was a wait of about three and a quarter hours, but at 11 pm the match was completely canceled. In this way, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings became a disappointing experience for the spectators.
With this canceled match, the spectators not only did not get the chance to watch the game, but also did not get their ticket money refunded, making their experience even more disappointing.
