The Hyundai Tucson is currently not available on sale in India. However, the company has not pulled the plug on this SUV yet. Recently, a few images of what the next generation of the Tucson could look like have surfaced online. These images have been based on the test mules of the new generation Tucson spotted testing on public roads in South Korea. Most likely, it will be making its global debut later this year, and it will be followed by a debut in India.

For the new generation of the Tucson, Hyundai has moved from the “Sensuous Sportiness” design philosophy to “Art of Steel”. This time around, the focus has been increased on making the new generation Tucson more rugged, bold, and feature chiseled aesthetics. It will boast fewer curves and a lot more sharp lines and strong surfaces.

The new design has taken inspiration from the new generation of the Santa Fe, which sits above the Tucson. At the front, the new Tucson features a prominent H-shaped light design with its split headlight setup. This time around, it will come equipped with vertical LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators, and the main headlamps have been placed lower in the bumper.

There will also be a blanked-off grille with only a thin line air vent, which gives it a very modern and unique fascia. Additionally, it also gets a bold new front bumper, with a large silver bezel that also extends on the lower part as the skid plate. Overall, the front of the new Tucson is very upright and will feature a flatter bonnet for stronger road presence.

Moving to the profile, the new generation of the Tucson will boast a strong shoulder line, squared-off wheel arches with thick claddings, and a set of large 19-inch alloy wheels. Another notable highlight will be the flush-type door handles. This time around, the Tucson will have a wider stance, be more muscular, and feature slightly more rugged styling.

As for the rear end, Hyundai will give the new Tucson a futuristic yet rugged styling, with a large connected pixelated LED bar in the middle. Meanwhile, the main rear taillights will feature an inverted L-shaped LED signature. The rear bumper will be very sporty and feature a large silver skid plate, which will add to the sporty yet sophisticated styling.

Although there are no spy images showing a look at the interior of the new Tucson, it is believed that, like most other modern Hyundai models, it too will boast a very minimalistic and futuristic cabin. The main dashboard will feature a large dual-screen layout with a massive 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other notable highlights will include a new Android-based OS, which will provide it with a smartphone-like interface and a built-in app ecosystem. It will improve the user experience and customisation. There will also be an AI assistant called “Gleo”, which will be similar to ChatGPT.

It will be able to facilitate natural language interaction and control navigation, climate, and infotainment. Apart from these, Hyundai is expected to continue offering physical switches for volume and automatic climate control, which, like most other premium SUVs, will be a multi-zone unit.

This time around, there will be no diesel Tucson on offer. As per the reports, the standard hybrid will be based on the next-gen TMED-II hybrid architecture. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid version will offer 100 km of pure electric range.
