South Korean icons Son Heung-min and G-Dragon share viral moment on pitch

According to South Korean news outlet MKthe meeting took place on Sunday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

G-Dragon was in attendance to watch LAFC take on Orlando City. The singer shared his visit by posting a stadium photo on social media with a simple “LA” caption.

He was joined by fellow BIGBANG member Daesung, who was later seen on the field holding Son’s jersey.

Following the final whistle, both G-Dragon and Daesung made their way down to the pitch.

Footage released by LAFC showed the two sharing a tight embrace, chatting and taking photos together.

The reunion quickly went viral online. South Korean media highlighted the notably intimate nature of the meeting, noting it went beyond a standard celebrity greeting.

Previously, Son referred to G-Dragon as “hyung,” a South Korean term for a close older brother, according to news outlet Nate.

Before this reunion, the two have engaged in numerous social media interactions, exchanged gifts, and met privately on several occasions.

G-Dragon previously gifted Son a bottle of his limited-edition perfume, which the footballer proudly posted on his social media.

According to Allkpopthe two stars have been spotted dining together at a sushi restaurant recently.

G-Dragon, real name Kwon Ji-yong, 37, is the leader of K-pop boyband BIGBANG and one of the most influential figures in South Korean pop culture.

Besides his career as a rapper, he is a prolific songwriter, producer, and a major fashion icon in South Korea.

Son, 33, captains the South Korea national team and is widely regarded as the greatest Asian footballer of all time.

He made a historic mark in Europe, particularly in the Premier League, where he won the Golden Boot during the 2021-2022 season, along with an Europa League title with Tottenham Hotspur in the 2024-2025 season.

He remains a source of pride for South Korean sports and a widely influential figure on the global stage.
