Who is Prashant Veer?

MS Dhoni remains out of the Chennai Super Kings' playing eleven. However, in the match against the Punjab Kings, CSK has given 20-year-old cricketer Prashant Veer a chance to debut. Prashant Veer is an all-rounder who has been selected in the Chennai team as a replacement for Matthew Short. But who is Prashant, the player on whom Chennai Super Kings spent ₹14.2 crore (Prashant Veer IPL Price CSK) in the mini auction?

Who is Prashant Veer?

Prashant Veer was born on November 20, 2005, in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Prashant bowls left-arm off-spin and is also a good batsman. He first gained recognition in the UP T20 League, where he performed well for the Noida Super Kings. Prashant also displayed excellent all-round performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Playing for Uttar Pradesh, the 20-year-old took nine wickets in seven matches and scored 112 runs at a blistering strike rate of 170. He is also being called the new Ravindra Jadeja of Chennai Super Kings, as he not only bats but also bowls excellent left-arm off-spin.

Career of Prashant Veer

20-year-old Prashant Veer made his domestic debut for Uttar Pradesh in October last year. So far, he has taken nine wickets and scored 112 runs in nine T20 matches. He also has experience in eight List A matches, taking 10 wickets and scoring 133 runs. He earned an IPL contract based on his impressive performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He has already made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh, but his red-ball numbers haven't been particularly impressive. He has two wickets in four first-class innings and has failed to make an impact with the bat.
