On April 6, 2026, the K-pop community was taken aback by the announcement that TEN, a key member of NCT and its sub-unit WayV, would be leaving SM Entertainment. This decision follows closely on the heels of former member Mark's announcement regarding his own departure. Both TEN and SM Entertainment have since addressed the situation, providing clarity to fans.

TEN shared a poignant message on his Instagram, expressing gratitude for the memories created since his debut with NCT U in 2016. He mentioned, "The time I was able to meet you through NCT and WayV has been filled with truly precious and happy memories in my life." He elaborated that this decision stemmed from deep personal contemplation as he approaches a new phase in his life. "As I near 30, I find myself questioning who I am," he noted, emphasizing his desire to embrace new challenges in a different setting.

Importantly, TEN clarified that leaving SM Entertainment does not equate to stepping away from NCT and WayV. He intends to continue his journey as Ten while also looking forward to evolving as a solo artist.

He expressed his appreciation for SM Entertainment, stating that it will always feel like home to him, especially as the first Thai artist to grow within the company.

In an official announcement on the WayV Weverse platform, SM Entertainment confirmed that TEN's exclusive contract would end on April 8, 2026. The company noted that this decision was made after thorough discussions about TEN's future, leading to a mutual agreement. They reassured fans that TEN's involvement in group activities remains a possibility, and they plan to maintain communication to explore opportunities for his participation in NCT and WayV events.
