Chennai: The death of popular serial actress Subhashini (36), who allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself in her rented house in Iyyappanthangal, Chennai, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. She was known for her role in the television serial Kayal, which airs on a private television channel.
According to police sources, an argument broke out between the couple while they were conversing via video call on Sunday night. Heartbroken by the incident, Subhashini informed her husband of her intention to commit suicide and subsequently took her own life within the house. Police have recovered her body and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Subhashini career background
Subhashini was originally from Sri Lanka. In 2012, she played a lead role in the film Ini Avan, which was set against a Sri Lankan backdrop. She also acted in several short films and social awareness videos. In 2023, she played a pivotal role in the film Ellam Mela Irukkiravan Paathuppan, starring Bigg Boss fame Aari. She was an active user on Instagram, regularly sharing photos and videos with her followers.
Subhashini personal life and the incident
Subhashini had married Bipin Chandra just a few months ago. Following her marriage, she had been residing in Bengaluru, Karnataka, with her husband. However, due to filming commitments, she had been staying in a rented house in Iyyappanthangal, Chennai, for the past few days.
