UGC NET December 2025: NTA Releases Revised Final Answer Keys for 5 Subjects—Find Out Why the Changes Were Made..

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the revised final answer key for the UGC NET December 2025 session. This revision was carried out following a directive from the Delhi High Court. Notably, the final answer key originally released on April 3 did not cover all subjects; instead, answer keys were issued only for History, Economics, Education, Commerce, and Hindi. The NTA has now removed four questions from the History paper—the very questions that had sparked the controversy. Additionally, three questions now have two correct answers each. Students can expect the revised results for these five subjects to be released on the official website shortly.

Three questions have also been removed from the Commerce paper, one of which now has two correct answers. The Commerce examination was conducted on January 3 during the first shift. Meanwhile, the Economics examination was held on January 7 (first shift) and the Education examination on January 3; no questions have been removed from either of these two subjects. The situation is the same for the Hindi paper, meaning that no questions have been removed from this subject either.

**Provisional Answer Key Released on January 14**
The NTA conducted the UGC NET examination from December 31, 2025, to January 7, 2026, and the provisional answer key for the same was released on January 14. This examination is conducted to determine eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions, and admission into PhD programs. A total of 60,777 candidates appeared for the UGC NET History examination held in December, the results for which were declared on February 4.

Student Files Petition in Court
The legal challenge regarding the UGC NET December 2025 answer key was initiated by a writ petition filed by student Kartikeya Kahol, in which he raised objections against four Question IDs (4324498604, 4324498530, 4324498544, and 4324498600) and requested that they be reviewed in light of the prescribed syllabus. Furthermore, several other candidates complained that the National Testing Agency (NTA) had incorrectly marked nine questions and that, despite their objections, no changes were incorporated into the final answer key released on February 4. Meanwhile, many individuals also alleged on social media that both the NTA and its panel of subject experts had overlooked serious errors.
