IPL 2026 SRH vs LSG: Lucknow won its first match, defeated Hyderabad by 5 wickets

The 10th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) was a low-scoring but exciting match. The match was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on 5 April. With the victory in this match, Lucknow has opened its account in IPL 2026. LSG won this match by 5 wickets.

 

Hyderabad had a very bad start in this match. By the time 10 overs were completed, the team had lost 4 wickets and were able to score only 35 runs. Despite this, the team somehow managed to play the full 20 overs and post a respectable score. On the contrary, Lucknow’s top order had a much better start this time compared to the previous match. However, it was not easy for LSG to win this match.

 

SRH innings

SRH had a very bad start. The team lost 3 wickets in the powerplay itself and could score only 22 runs. It seemed that the team would not be able to score big but after this the batsmen made a good comeback in the middle overs. Between 7 and 15 overs, Hyderabad lost only 1 wicket and added 92 runs and made a comeback in the match. After this, the team scored runs rapidly in the death overs but wickets kept falling continuously. Between 16 and 20 overs, SRH scored 42 runs losing 5 wickets.

 

Ultimately, in 20 overs, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored a respectable score of 156 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. The brilliant partnership of Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy played a big role in taking the team to this score. Both of them took control of the innings by adding 116 runs in 63 balls for the 5th wicket and took the team to a respectable score.

 

Heinrich Klaasen top scored for SRH with 62 runs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 56 runs. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan took two wickets each, while Digvijay Rathi and Manimaran Siddharth took one wicket each. Let us tell you that Harshal Patel was run out.

LSG innings

LSG had a better start than SRH. During the powerplay, the team scored 53 runs at the loss of one wicket. However, the team’s pace slowed down in the middle overs. Between 7 and 15 overs, the team scored 61 runs after losing three wickets. After this, the team regained momentum in the death overs. Between 16th and 20th over, Lucknow scored 46 runs losing only one wicket. Ultimately, the team scored a total of 160 runs for the loss of five wickets in 19.5 overs and won the match by five wickets with just one ball remaining.

 

Captain Rishabh Pant top-scored for LSG with an unbeaten 68 runs, while Aiden Markram contributed 45 runs. On the other hand, SRH bowlers put up a strong fight. For Hyderabad, Harsh Dubey took 2 wickets, while Ishan Malinga and Shivang Kumar took one wicket each. Nicholas Pooran was run out after scoring one run.
