SUVs are gaining popularity among buyers not just in India but globally. This dominance is evident not just in the ICE segment but also in the EV space. A majority of new EVs launched in the market are SUVs. They offer space, better range, and many brands often introduce them at attractive price points too. Indian brands like Mahindra and Tata are also following the same trend. Here, we have a list of six electric SUVs that Tata and Mahindra are expected to launch in the market.
The first one on this list is the Sierra EV. Tata launched the Sierra last year, and official deliveries started in January this year. After the ICE version, Tata is now working on the EV version of the Sierra. Tata has been testing this for quite some time and is almost ready to launch the Sierra EV in the market. The official launch is expected to happen in the second quarter of 2026.
The exterior design is expected to remain similar, with EV-specific changes like a closed grille, sleek headlamps, a revised bumper, and different alloy wheels. The interiors would also be EV-specific, but features like the triple display, panoramic sunroof, seat ventilation, and memory seats are expected to continue.
It is likely to be offered with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options. The SUV will come with both single and dual-motor configurations, meaning it will be available in RWD and AWD formats from the start.
We already have the Tata Harrier EV in the market, and it looks like Tata is almost done testing the Safari EV as well. The electric SUV has been spotted multiple times, and there are reports that Tata is planning to launch it around the festive season this year.

The Safari EV would be Tata’s first three-row electric SUV and would rival models like the Mahindra XEV 9S. Just like the Harrier EV, this is not a born-electric SUV and would serve as the brand’s flagship offering. The overall design will remain similar to the ICE version, with elements like a closed grille, aero inserts on alloy wheels, EV-specific exterior colours, and interior updates. It is expected that Tata will offer the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs as the Harrier EV, along with both RWD and AWD configurations.
This is going to mark a new chapter in Tata Motors’ EV journey. The Avinya was first showcased at the Auto Expo, and later we saw different iterations at the Bharat Mobility Expo in 2025. It is a premium crossover or SUV that will be sold via a separate dealer network. Unlike other Tata models, it won’t be offered with an ICE option. Tata is expected to launch the production version of the Avinya by the end of 2026 or early 2027.

Mahindra currently has three born-electric SUVs in its lineup. The fourth one will be based on the BE 07 concept that Mahindra showcased a couple of years ago. Mahindra has already started testing the BE 07, and it looks like a mid-size electric SUV that will rival models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, and Toyota eBella.
Compared to the Hyundai Creta Electric, the BE 07 is expected to be longer, wider, and offer a longer wheelbase. It will come with premium features similar to those seen in Mahindra’s existing EVs. Mahindra is expected to price it competitively and may offer it with 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh battery pack options.

Mahindra will be launching a 70 kWh battery pack version of the BE6. This variant would sit between the existing 59 kWh and 79 kWh options. This setup was first introduced in the XEV 9S and generates 242 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels.

Just like the BE6, Mahindra will also introduce the 70 kWh battery pack in the XEV 9E. The exterior, features, and overall design of the XEV 9E will remain unchanged, with the only difference being the new battery pack. The power and torque figures are expected to remain the same, and it is likely to offer a claimed range of around 600 km.
