New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has once again issued a stern warning to Iran. He has said that if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz, its power plants and bridges will be attacked starting Tuesday. Trump has named this day Power Plant Day and Bridge Day. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that if Iran does not open the route, it will face hell-like conditions. He said in very harsh language that open the Strait, or be prepared to face the consequences. Trump also used abusive language in the post.

Trump’s 10-day deadline to open the Strait of Hormuz expires on Monday, while talks have been inconclusive. Trump has previously stated that if Iran doesn’t reach a deal, its major power, water, and oil infrastructure will be attacked. Three days ago, the US and Israel twice attacked the B1 Bridge in the Iranian city of Karaj, killing two people and completely destroying the 136-meter-high bridge. This approximately 1,050-meter-long bridge was built at a cost of approximately $400 million (approximately ₹3,800 crore). It was Iran’s largest bridge.

Iran rejects Trump’s threat
Meanwhile, Iran has rejected these threats and stated that such attacks would be a war crime. Tehran has warned that if the US attacks, it will retaliate against key targets in Israel and Gulf countries. In recent days, the US and Israel have intensified attacks on several Iranian targets. Trump previously shared a video showing a major Iranian bridge collapsing. He warned that if Iran did not comply, bridges and power plants would be the next targets.

Ceasefire Attempts Failed
Over the past 10 days, attempts have been made to hold talks between the US and Iran. These talks were not conducted directly, but through countries like Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey. The aim was to prevent war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but no significant results have been achieved so far. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital sea route, carrying approximately 20 to 30 percent of the world’s oil supply.
