Camaraderie, gentleman's game, sportsmanship- all were reflected in Royal Challengers' innings amid the batting carnage against Chennai Super Kings on April 2 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. And Tim David's innings was just another moment in it. From Virat Kohli breaking into a laugh to Khaleel Ahmed's sledge to David fist-bumping with young, celebrating Anshul Khamboj, Bengaluru radiated warmth.

In the 18th over, Anshul Khamboj nailed a perfect yorker that rattled David's stumps. Out of a general celebration, Khamboj was seen roaring down the pitch, and David, instead of simply walking away, gave a fist bump, acknowledging the pacer's talent.

However, David was called back midway after the ball was checked to be a no-ball. Replays confirmed that Kamboj had overstepped, leading the umpire to declare it a no-ball and grant David a life. Tim David capitalized on the mistake immediately, smashing the subsequent free hit for a six over long-on.

The situation was overturned for CSK after that, as David started smacking here and there, having a 99-run not-out stand with the captain, Rajat Patidar.

RCB post 250 as Patidar, David explode

Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a batting masterclass to pile up a massive 250/3 in 20 overs, driven by explosive finishing from Rajat Patidar and Tim David. After a brisk opening stand, Virat Kohli made 28 off 18 before falling in the fifth over, while Phil Salt kept the momentum going with 46 off 30. Devdutt Padikkal then anchored the middle phase brilliantly, bringing up a fluent 50 off just 29 balls with five fours and two sixes.

The real carnage came after the 14th over when captain Rajat Patidar and Tim David launched a brutal assault. Patidar stayed unbeaten on 48 off only 19 balls, smashing six sixes, while David’s unbeaten 70 off 25 was even more destructive, featuring eight towering sixes at a strike rate of 280. Their unbroken 99-run stand off just 35 deliveries transformed a strong total into a daunting one. RCB scored at 12.5 per over overall, with Chennai’s bowlers unable to contain the late surge as every frontline option went above nine runs an over.
