Renowned Pakistani actor Shaan Shahid has revealed that actress Meera will “surprise everyone” with her performance in his upcoming film Psycho.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Shaan expressed his excitement over the success of his recently released film Bullha, which premiered on Eid-ul-Fitr and is performing strongly at the box office.

The veteran actor, who has appeared in over 500 films as a lead, said the project has helped remind audiences “what cinema truly is.” He also praised co-stars Naeema Butt and Mona Lizza for their strong performances.

Discussing his upcoming film Psycho, Shaan hinted at a standout role by Meera, suggesting her performance will exceed expectations and captivate audiences.

However, he also voiced concern about increasing rivalry within the film industry. “There is too much hostility now. People don’t appreciate each other,” he said, adding that he feels disappointed when senior figures engage in unnecessary criticism.

Reflecting on his career, Shaan shared that after the global success of Khuda Kay Liye, directed by Shoaib Mansoor, he received multiple offers from Bollywood filmmakers. Despite the opportunities, he chose to decline them, prioritizing work within Pakistan.

“I felt it was important to work for my own people and entertain Pakistani audiences,” he explained.

Shaan also compared television and film acting, describing television as “Test cricket” that requires patience and depth, while films are like “T20 cricket,” demanding speed and intensity. He noted that many television actors struggle to adjust their style when transitioning to cinema.

Talking about the future of the industry, he emphasized the need for unity among filmmakers from Karachi and Lahore. He mentioned fellow actors Fahad Mustafa and Humayun Saeed, stating that collaboration is key to reviving Pakistani cinema.

On a personal note, Shaan shared that all four of his daughters are interested in pursuing careers in showbiz, though they are currently focused on their education. He added that they have grown up in an environment rich in literature, poetry, and intellectual discussions.

Concluding his remarks, Shaan stressed that entertainment plays a vital role in society and called on authorities to give greater attention to the film and entertainment sector in the future.
