Pressure is mounting on Robin van Persie after Feyenoord's dismal goalless draw against FC Volendam saw the Eredivisie title handed to rivals PSV Eindhoven. Feyenoord were held 0-0 on Sunday by the 14th-placed side, who had lost their last three matches, and the away fans made their feelings clear after the final whistle.
Chants of "shame on you" were heard from the travelling Feyenoord fans after the third draw in four league games left their side 17 points adrift of PSV. The two dropped points were enough to officially crown PSV as champions.
It was a flat performance for Feyenoord, who saw Anis Hadj-Moussa and Anel Ahmedhodzic added to their lengthy injury list. Raheem Sterling started once again on the wing and fired his one chance wide of the post.
The ex-Chelsea star was substituted by Van Persie, who was irate on the sidelines. The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker was booked after complaining about his side not being awarded a penalty.

Feyenoord are now just one point ahead of NEC in the race for second place, which brings automatic qualification for the Champions League. "It certainly wasn't fantastic, we need to defend better and we should have created more. It was enough to score one, but it should have been more," Van Persie told ESPN post-match.
Asked about the fans chants against him and his players, he added: "No. They worked hard, everyone saw that. We could have made it easier for ourselves by being better on the ball."
Sterling has struggled since cancelling his deal with Chelsea to join Feyenoord in January. He's contributed just one assist in six Eredivisie games as he tries to get back to full fitness following months on the sidelines at Chelsea.
Van Persie was behind the decision to sign the 31-year-old and has continually stressed the need for patience. But it seems that patience is wearing thin in Rotterdam.
"We made some wrong choices, I did too at one point. We need to be sharper in that regard," said Feyenoord midfielder Luciano Valente. "We are already struggling; in matches like this, you really have to finish your chances.
"If you score, the spaces open up afterwards. We lost the ball too easily, and that's when they come into their own."
Asked about the fans' anger, he said: "We've been hearing that for a while. We are second, it is clear that the game isn't great. The emotions are logical. We can't do much with them.
"Not that they are wrong, but we have to move on week by week. We have one objective: Champions League football. We are still second, however bizarre that may be."
Van Persie said before kick-off that Feyenoord's focus is solely on themselves, not PSV. "No, I don't mention that part anywhere," he said. "Our Champions League project, however, I do. We state that it is important for the club. That we have to work hard to be in the Champions League next year, because that is what we want."
