Cummins, who came to India even before the start of the tournament, has returned back to Australia. According to media reports, Pat Cummins’ return will now be possible only after the third week of April. In the absence of Cummins, star wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan is leading the Sunrisers.
Pat Cummins returned to Australia
ESPNcricinfo reports that Sunrisers captain Pat Cummins has returned to the country to get his back checked. Cummins joined SRH just before the start of the new season but could not play the first two matches. Now due to returning to Australia, he will not be able to play the next few matches.
Why did Cummins return to Australia?
According to the report, Cummins will undergo a final scan in Australia and if the results are positive, he can join SRH back by April 17. Cummins has been struggling with a back injury for almost a year. Due to this, he has played only one match since July 2025.
He took part in only one Test match during the Ashes series and after that was out again. Due to this, he could not play even in the T20 World Cup 2026. In the current situation, Cummins can miss at least 4 more matches and he can truly make a comeback only in the match against Delhi Capitals on 21st April.
SRH looking weak without Pat Cummins
Without Cummins, SRH’s bowling looks a bit weak. Although the team defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in its last match, the team looked troubled in front of a strong batting line-up like Royal Challengers Bangalore. In such a situation, this team may have to face difficulties against other teams like Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.
