Washington / Tehran: A United States Air Force officer, whose aircraft was shot down in Iran, was successfully rescued in a night operation, according to reports.
US President Donald Trump stated that no casualties occurred during the operation. However, reports said that US forces had to destroy their own aircraft while retreating.
An American official told The Wall Street Journal that two MC-130J aircraft were used in the mission to secretly enter and exit enemy territory. During the operation, the aircraft reportedly got stuck.
To prevent them from falling into Iranian hands, both aircraft were destroyed, the official said.
Meanwhile, Iran shared images of the destroyed aircraft. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf posted pictures of the smoking wreckage on X, mocking the United States. He wrote that if the US achieves three more such “victories,” it would be completely destroyed.
