In the tenth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 played at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants registered their first win of the season by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets. Actually, Lucknow team won the toss and decided to bowl first, which went in their favor. Host Sunrisers Hyderabad could score only 156 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Lucknow achieved the target by losing 5 wickets in 19.5 overs.
Actually, the hero of Lucknow’s victory has been captain Rishabh Pant, who has batted brilliantly under pressure. Pant faced 50 balls and scored unbeaten 68 runs, which included many important fours. His innings came when the team needed it the most. This was also the 20th half-century of his IPL career, which he completed by hitting a powerful four on a low full toss ball from Harsh Dubey. With this four, Lucknow also won the match. Apart from Pant, Aiden Markram has also scored an important 45 runs in 27 balls, which has helped the team in chasing the target.
Nitish Kumar Reddy played half-century innings of 56 runs.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad team, who came to bat, did not have a good start, but Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy handled the innings. Clausen scored 62 runs and Nitish Kumar Reddy played half-century innings of 56 runs. There was a strong partnership of 116 runs for the fifth wicket between the two batsmen, which played an important role in taking the team to a respectable score. However, this partnership was not enough to lead the team to victory.
Lucknow bowlers have also performed well in this match. Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan have maintained pressure on Hyderabad batsmen by taking two wickets each. Digvesh Rathi and Manimaran Siddharth have also got one success each. Talking about Hyderabad’s bowling, Harsh Dubey has taken two important wickets of Lucknow. Ishan Malinga and Shivang Kumar also got one wicket each. However, these wickets have not been enough to stop Lucknow from reaching the target. While keeping wicket for Hyderabad, Ishan Kishan has run out Nicholas Pooran and stumped Ayush Badoni, due to which some exciting moments have been seen in the match.
Hyderabad wickets fell early
Some important wickets have fallen during the match, which changed the course of the game. Hyderabad’s Abdul Samad, after scoring 18 runs on 12 balls, got caught out by Liam Livingstone while trying to play a big shot on Harsh Dubey’s full length ball. This was the fifth wicket for Hyderabad. Important wickets have fallen in Lucknow’s innings also. Nicholas Pooran was run out while attempting a sweep on a slower ball. The ball hit the inside edge of the bat and Ishan Kishan made quick work of the stumps when Pooran was left out of the crease.
Ayush Badoni became the victim of Harsh Dubey on the first ball of the 13th over. This fast and full length ball was outside the off stump, on which Badoni went forward to play the shot but missed the ball completely. Ishan Kishan did excellent keeping and immediately stumped him. Aiden Markram also became the victim of Shivang Kumar’s first IPL wicket. Markram was trying to play a straight shot, but the ball hit the outside of the bat and went into the air, which was easily caught by Liam Livingstone standing at long-off.
