Government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel said that now Saturday and Sunday will be closed in government offices and educational institutions. He said that this decision has been taken due to the uncomfortable situation arising in petroleum supply. Till now, weekly holiday was given only on Saturday in Nepal, but from this week, holiday will be given on Sunday along with Saturday. The government has also decided to fix the timings of government offices from 9 am to 5 pm.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to maintain the timings of other government offices except educational institutions from 9 to 5 pm. This time limit will be applicable to other government offices except educational institutions. Till date, work in government offices in Nepal was from 10 am to 5 pm, in which the morning time has been extended by one hour. This new system will become effective in the entire country from Monday. Now employees in government offices will have to report one hour earlier in the morning i.e. at 9 am so that the efficiency is not affected.
