Arijit Basu, former managing director at SBI, has been appointed as the part-time chairman of IndusInd Bank, following shareholder approval.
Basu brings with him extensive experience in the banking and financial services sector. Prior to his appointment at IndusInd Bank, he served as Chairman of the Board of HDB Financial Services, the non-bank lending arm of HDFC Bank. Basu has had a distinguished career with the State Bank of India, from where he retired as a Board Member and Managing Director. Earlier, he also served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBI Life Insurance Company. The current chairman Sunil Mehta will cease office from January 30. The bank said that the Board of Directors and the management placed on record their deep appreciation for Mehta’s contributions.
