According to information received, the vessels were cleared to proceed only after obtaining official permission from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to sources in the Indian Navy, despite the current tense situation in the region, India had continued to hold talks; which eventually enabled these ships to proceed further. Both these ships were anchored in the sea for the past several days. The safe passage of these two vessels is now a positive sign for other merchant vessels currently stranded in the Persian Gulf. The government hopes that other Indian tankers will get similar clearances in the next 24 to 48 hours.
