- Release of Indian ships from Hormuz Strait
Hormuz Strait crisis: The repercussions of the ongoing war between Iran-Israel-America are being seen all over the world. Since Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, there has been a shortage of oil and LPG everywhere. India is also involved in this. In the wake of concerns like shortage of cooking gas and fears of supply disruptions, an important piece of news has emerged. Two Indian ships ‘Jag Vasant’ and ‘Pine Gas’, stranded in the Persian Gulf due to the ongoing fierce conflict between Iran and Israel, have now safely crossed the ‘Strait of Hormuz’. According to information received, the vessels were cleared to proceed only after obtaining official permission from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to sources in the Indian Navy, despite the current tense situation in the region, India had continued to hold talks; which eventually enabled these ships to proceed further. Both these ships were anchored in the sea for the past several days. The safe passage of these two vessels is now a positive sign for other merchant vessels currently stranded in the Persian Gulf. The government hopes that other Indian tankers will get similar clearances in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Ships ‘Jag Vasant’ and ‘Pine Gas’ are expected to reach Indian shores soon; This will help in replenishment of domestic cooking gas stock. However, the government does not want to rely solely on imports. Officials have clarified that work has already begun on a plan to increase domestic LPG production, to mitigate the impact of any long-term instability in the Gulf region in the future. For now, though, the safe return of these two vessels has come as a relief to millions of Indian consumers who have been worried over news of gas rationing or shortages for the past few days.
