LPG Supply Update: Government Resumes Commercial LPG Distribution
The government has confirmed that commercial LPG cylinder distribution has resumed for some industries across various states. Officials said the move is aimed at supporting businesses and ensuring that industries continue operations without disruption.
According to Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing and Oil Refinery) at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, commercial consumers are now receiving LPG supplies again.
“In some states, commercial cylinders are being directly supplied to industries to meet their operational requirements,” Sharma said during a briefing.
This decision is expected to provide relief to restaurants, hotels and other commercial establishments that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.
LPG Supply Situation: Government Urges Public to Avoid Panic Booking
Authorities have reassured consumers that there is no shortage of LPG in the country despite the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Officials said that although bookings have increased in recent days, the government is closely monitoring the LPG supply chain to ensure uninterrupted availability for both domestic and commercial users.
Consumers have also been urged not to resort to panic booking, as sufficient LPG stocks are available across retail outlets.
LPG Tankers Moving Safely Through Strait of Hormuz
Two LPG carriers have already safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical shipping routes for oil and gas.
Media sources said Iran has granted safe passage to Indian-flagged LPG tankers, allowing them to cross the region despite the ongoing conflict.
Currently, 28 Indian-flagged vessels are operating in the Persian Gulf region, and authorities are closely monitoring their safety.
LPG Transport Monitoring Intensified Amid Gulf Tensions
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has strengthened monitoring measures in the Persian Gulf region due to the evolving maritime situation.
Meanwhile, two oil tankers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, are expected to arrive in India within the next few days.
Both vessels, owned by the Shipping Corporation of India, are being guided by naval assets to ensure safe transit through strategically sensitive waters.
The Strait of Hormuz handles nearly 20 per cent of global oil and gas exports, making the security of the route critical for global energy supply and LPG shipments to India.
