Instant messaging platform WhatsApp is soon set to introduce a new AI feature for its users. Under the latest update, a new section named the "Meta AI Tab" has been spotted within the app, allowing users to access AI tools directly.
Details regarding this feature were shared by the tech tracking website WABetaInfo. According to the report, this new tab will provide users with the option to interact with AI with ease.
With the help of the new AI tab, users will be able to converse with the AI using either text or voice commands. Furthermore, this section will enable users to generate animated images or other creative content with the assistance of AI. Consequently, utilizing various AI tools directly within WhatsApp will become easier than ever before.
According to the report, this feature has currently been observed in the Android beta version of the app. Specifically, a glimpse of this new AI tab was caught in WhatsApp Beta version 2.26.6.5. It is reported that this will function as a centralized AI hub, from where users can access various distinct AI features.
The company has currently initiated testing of this feature with a limited number of Android beta users. Some users are already seeing the new Meta AI tab appear in the app's bottom navigation bar.
According to reports, the "Communities" tab has been removed from the app's main interface to accommodate the addition of this new section. There had been previous indications that a dedicated section for AI-powered chats was being developed within WhatsApp.
If the testing proves successful, this feature could be rolled out to all users in the near future.
