WhatsApp Feature: Accounts for young children can now be created on WhatsApp. The messaging platform has announced that it is introducing new parent-managed accounts for children under 13, which will focus solely on calling and messaging. These accounts are designed to give parents complete control over their children's communications. This new feature will be rolled out in the next few months.
How will children's accounts work?
WhatsApp's new parent-managed accounts will feature new default settings and parental controls. Through these accounts, parents will be able to manage who contacts their children and which groups they are added to. Parents will also be able to manage the privacy settings of these accounts. However, all personal conversations will remain private and end-to-end encrypted, just like a regular account. These accounts will not have features like Meta AI, channels, status, and View Once in one-on-one conversations.
Children's Accounts Will Be Linked to Parents' Devices
According to reports, to set up these accounts, parents will need to keep their devices and their children's devices nearby. Both accounts will be linked via a QR code. Once set up, parents will also be able to review message requests from unknown contacts.
WhatsApp is also working on a paid subscription.
WhatsApp Plus, a paid subscription plan, is coming soon. The company may add several new features, including exclusive stickers, themes, a new app icon, and a new chat interface. This feature is currently being tested and will roll out to both Android and iPhone users. Even after the introduction of paid subscription, features like calling, messaging, and file sharing will remain free as before.
