BBC drama A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is set to return later this year for a much-anticipated second series, with a first glimpse of the compelling new case now unveiled.
Shot in Bristol and featuring Wednesday's Emma Myers as teenage detective Pip Fitz-Amobi, who probes the disturbing murder of a local girl as part of her school project, the programme proved a success when its debut series launched in summer 2024.
Following its global breakthrough on Netflix and other streaming services, a second series was announced in November 2024.
The BBC has now revealed the programme will be back with another mystery arriving later this year, adapted from Holly Jackson's bestselling follow-up novel, Good Girl, Bad Blood.
Myers naturally returns as Pip, alongside an impressive ensemble that also features Zain Iqbal (Death, Whatever!), Asha Banks (My Fault: London), Yali Topol Margalith (The Tattooist of Auschwitz), Misia Butler (KAOS) Jude Morgan-Collie (Here We Go), Eden H Davies (Tell Me Everything) and Henry Ashton (My Lady Jane), reports the Mirror.
A synopsis for series two states: "After solving the Andie Bell case, Pip is determined to fix the fallout - and stay away from any more investigations.
"But as Max Hastings' trial approaches, Connor's brother Jamie suddenly disappears, and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him.
"It's all systems go as new pictures reveal Pip (Emma Myers) and her friends back on the pursuit. With Jamie (Eden H Davies) missing and time running out, the pictures reveal Pip, Ravi (Zain Iqbal), Cara (Asha Banks), Lauren (Yali Topol Margalith), and Connor (Jude Morgan-Collie) reunited, unravelling new secrets, leads, and mysteries.
"And as Pip prepares to face Max (Henry Ashton) in court, his cousin Robin (Freddie England) starts dating Lauren, becoming a controversial new member of their friendship group."
Legions of devotees have spent nearly two years eagerly anticipating Pip's return to crack another case, having showered her initial six-episode run with glowing praise.
One IMDb reviewer hailed the television drama "an excellent adaptation", noting: "This series is perfect. I hope they adapt the other books. Emma Myers is here as a perfect protagonist. She managed to deliver an incredible and fresh performance."
Another viewer labelled it "a lot of fun" in a perfect 10/10 assessment, stating: "Really enjoyed this having not read the books.
"Was very surprised by the ending and it kept me guessing the whole way. Emma Myers was a perfect choice to play the lead, such a captivating performance and she easily carried the show.
"Best murder mystery show in a while," a further admirer declared, continuing: "This was really good. I ended up bingeing on it. I really liked the story. It was very addicting."
One final enthusiast penned: "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is absolutely amazing, and there's so much to love about it. First off, the show brilliantly captures the tension and intrigue of the original novel, making it an edge-of-your-seat experience from start to finish.
"The way the mystery unfolds is so clever, keeping you guessing and theorizing right alongside the main character, Pip.
"It's not just about solving a crime; it's about peeling back the layers of secrets in a small town where everyone seems to have something to hide."
Be sure to stay tuned for further updates as this thrilling murder mystery drama prepares to return to our screens imminently.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder Series Two will air on the BBC in 2026.
