Bank Holiday Update: All banks in the country will be closed tomorrow. If you have any urgent banking work, try to complete it today or wait until next week. All private and public sector banks across the country will be closed tomorrow, January 24th (Saturday). According to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, there is a public holiday at banks on the fourth Saturday of every month. Since tomorrow is the fourth Saturday of January, banking services will not be available at the branch level throughout India.
Why is there a holiday on Saturday?
Customers often wonder when banks are open and when they are closed. According to RBI guidelines, banks have a mandatory holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Conversely, banks function normally on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays. Since tomorrow is the 24th, it is the last Saturday of the month, and therefore, a holiday has been declared for bank employees.
Banks closed in several states today as well.
The series of bank holidays has already begun today, January 23rd (Friday). Banks are closed in several states today on the occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary and Basant Panchami. Specifically, bank branches are closed today in West Bengal, Odisha, and Tripura. This has become a long weekend for the residents of these states, as Friday is followed by holidays on Saturday and Sunday.
Complete your work through digital means.
Even though bank branches are physically closed, customers don't need to worry in this age of technology. Most banking tasks, such as fund transfers, balance checks, or bill payments, can be done through Net Banking or Mobile Apps. In addition, UPI and ATM services will remain operational 24/7, so there will be no difficulty in withdrawing cash or making online transactions.
