Banking Holiday January 2026: The last month of the year 2024, December will end in a few days. Then the new year will begin. Banks will remain closed for 16 days in January 2026. This includes public holidays, Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays. 26 January will be the Republic Day holiday. January 24 is the fourth Saturday and January 25 is Sunday. This will give people a long weekend to travel or plan a family outing. In addition to regular weekend closures, banks will remain closed for public holidays in many states.

RBI has divided bank holidays into three categories. Those categories are holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and real time gross settlement holidays. All three categories of holidays are coming next month. So, if you have any important banking work then you need to keep RBI holiday calendar in mind.

Online and phone banking will continue during bank holidays. Despite bank holidays, you can transact money or do other transactions through online banking and ATMs. Bank holidays will not affect these services. Stock market transactions will remain closed for 9 days in January. Business will be closed on 4 Sundays and 4 Saturdays as well as Republic Day on 26 January.
