LPG prices to bank holidays: What's changing from December 1
01 Dec 2025
As December 2025 begins, several changes are set to come into effect that could directly impact your finances.
These include potential adjustments in bank loan rates, bank working days, monthly fuel price revisions, and pension requirements.
Oil marketing companies (OMCs) revise the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and air turbine fuel (ATF) on the first day of each month. The revision is based on international fuel benchmarks and foreign exchange rates.
LPG and ATF prices: What to expect
Price impact
If there are any hikes or cuts on December 1, it could affect the cost of household (14.2kg) and commercial (19kg) LPG cylinders.
The price changes could also affect air travel costs as ATF prices directly influence flight ticket rates.
It's worth noting that the final cost of these fuels varies from state to state due to local taxes like value-added tax (VAT).
December 2025: A month of bank holidays
Bank closures
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced 17 bank holidays for December 2025. These include Sundays and the second and fourth Saturday weekly offs.
The designated bank holidays are December 1, 3, 7, 12-14, 18-21, 24-28, and 30-31.
However, these dates may vary from state to state based on national/regional/religious observances. It is advisable to check with your local branch for applicable dates in your area.
RBI's MPC meeting and potential loan rate changes
Rate adjustments
The RBI's monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting is scheduled for December 3-5. During this time, the central bank will consider a potential repo rate cut.
The repo rate is the interest at which the central bank lends short-term funds to commercial banks and serves as a benchmark for all lending rates in the economy.
If these cuts are implemented, borrowing rates could decrease, benefiting borrowers across sectors.
