Cyber fraud jharkhand: Cyber criminals are constantly adopting new ways to rob the hard-earned money of the people. A case that came out from Jharkhand recently is surprising to everyone. Here the thugs vacated an elderly woman’s bank account without ATM card and without OTP.
10 thousand cheated from elderly woman in Jharkhand
According to India TV report, cyber thugs blew up 10,000 rupees from the account of an elderly woman living in Garhwa district of Jharkhand. The accused described themselves as an officer of PM Kisan Yojana and pretended to benefit the woman and scanned their eyes by deception. Through the scan, the thugs reached the woman’s bank account and withdrew the money. When the woman reached the bank, she came to know about the disappearance of the money from her account.
How did the incident of cheating?
Nowadays most bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar cards. In such a situation, money can be withdrawn through biometric authentication – fingerprint and iris scan. According to the report, the thugs raised the woman’s Aadhaar number and then scanned their eyes and took out 10 thousand rupees from the account. This case is an indication that cyber criminals are now cheating people by reaching out to biometric data.
Keep yourself safe
Be vigilant with Aadhaar card – Do not give private documents, especially Aadhaar card to anyone. Use virtual Aadhaar number (VID) from UIDAI’s website if needed.
- Lock biometric: The facility of locking biometric information is available on the UIDAI portal. With this, no one will be able to misuse your fingerprint or iris scan. However, whenever biometric service is needed, you must temporarily unlock it and re -lock it later.
- Be cautious with unknown people: Do not trust unknown persons who come in the name of getting the benefit of any scheme and immediately inform the police or bank.
