From 1 August 2025, many major changes will be applicable in Unified Payment Interface (UPI) system. These rules are important for those who use UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm.
The purpose of these changes is to make UPI service more efficient, smooth and durable. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) is implementing these measures.
Land of checking the remaining amount:
Through UPI apps, bank account balance can be checked only 50 times a day. It is not allowed to check more than this. Similarly, information about bank accounts associated with mobile number can also be seen only 25 times a day.
Ban on autodebit:
OTT platform, mutual fund SIP etc. have the facility to cut money automatically. However, from now on, autodebit will be limited to hours with low traffic. Autodebit will work only at 10 am, 1 pm to 5 pm and only after 9:30 pm.
Transaction status check restriction: UPI transaction conditions can be checked only three times a day. Each test should have a gap of at least 90 seconds.
Why this change?
The use of UPI system is increasing day by day. About 1,600 crore transactions are taking place every month. This is putting a lot of pressure on the UPI network. To reduce this pressure and increase the efficiency of service, NPCI has implemented these rules. Due to these changes, UPI users will have to plan their transaction activities.
