New Delhi: WhatsApp is developing a new option that will support users taking a break from the app. WhatsApp beta users have noticed a new “Logout” option in version 2.25.17.37 which suggests that soon, users could simply log out of their primary phone’s WhatsApp without having to delete it.
Now, the only way to delete a WhatsApp account is through the main device, which deletes all stored data and removes the user from all groups. Though users can log out on desktops and other devices connected to their account, logging out on a phone has not been available. Soon, users might find a more flexible option for pausing their account without any loss of saved data.
Logout option found in beta
The Account settings menu now contains the new logout feature, and it gives you two choices. It keeps all the user’s information and preferences even if they sign out. Therefore, all your chats, account settings and groups stay where they are and can be recovered by logging in again. The second choice deletes all app data and settings but keeps your groups.
Perfect for short breaks or troubleshooting
This feature is suitable for people who want to take a break from WhatsApp, fix a problem or use a different account. Rather than simply deleting the account and associated information, this new approach allows you to save your data.
For now, WhatsApp has marked the logout button as “Internal” in the beta, meaning it is still being tested by the company itself. More beta users could get access to it in the next releases, before it is officially launched for everyone. The service is only available to a small number of users at this time.
