WhatsApp, which was once only a means of talking to friends and family, is now becoming a new source of fraud. This instant messaging app used worldwide is now targeted by scammers. Especially in India, a fast growing new image scam has increased the concern of the people.

What is WhatsApp image scam?
In this scam, you are sent a simple photo from an unknown number. But as soon as you click on that photo, a malware is installed in your mobile in a hidden way.
This scam is being carried out through a technique, which is called Stegonography. It has a dangerous code or virus hidden inside an image file, which a common man cannot recognize.
Once clicking, this malware gives your mobile access to hackers. After this, scammers have access to your banking details, passwords and OTP – and your bank account can be empty in minutes.

How to avoid this WhatsApp scam?
1. ignore the message from the unknown number
If an unknown person sends you a photo, link or file, do not open it at all.

If no file is needed, never download or open it, especially when she has come from an unknown number.
