Through UPI Circle, any primary user (main UPI account holder) can allow a maximum of 5 secondary users to initiate payment from his account.
BHIM UPI Circle: To make digital payments easier and safer, NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NPCI, has launched a new feature 'UPI Circle' on the BHIM app. This feature allows users to allow their UPI transactions to some trusted people, that too with complete transparency and control.
5 secondary users will be able to add
Through UPI Circle, any primary user (main UPI account holder) can allow a maximum of 5 secondary users to initiate payment from his account. However, every transaction will be completed only when the primary user approves it through his UPI PIN in the BHIM app. This keeps a check on every transaction.
Who is this feature for?
Senior Citizens:
A family member can approve payments for them.
Students and youth:
Parents can give them limited and secure access.
Small merchants:
Merchants can allow their staff to pay for expenses, but under their supervision.
Digitally ignorant users:
For those who are not comfortable with digital payments, this can be a great support.
The UPI Circle feature is available in the new version 4.0.2 of the BHIM app, which also includes many new features like Split Expenses, Family Mode, Spends Dashboard and multi-language support.
How will UPI Circle work?
Open the BHIM app and go to the ‘UPI Circle’ section from the home screen or menu.
Tap on ‘Add Secondary User’ and scan their UPI ID or QR code.
Select “Approve every payment” delegation type (Partial Delegation).
The secondary user will receive an invitation, upon accepting which they will be able to initiate a payment, which will be approved by the primary user in real-time.
